What a fun weekend we’ve had…

The fun started Friday – Zack & I arrived at Cinco for what we thought was going to be an evening of just hanging out. As it turned out, our awesome work friends had put together our very first ‘baby’ shower! They totally hooked us up with lots of great stuff, including toys, gift cards, and a car seat. Thanks to all of our friends at Infinity that contributed to the gifts and that attended the get-together!

Saturday was another great day. We had friends & family stop by throughout the afternoon. The party got going around 1:00, and the last of the crew didn’t leave till nearly midnight. In addition to LOTS of good food and conversation, we of course enjoyed watching UGA and the Vols end the day with wins. It was fun to visit with everyone one last time before we leave.

My mom and step dad spent the night and went to church with us this morning. Afterwards we went out to lunch, and during lunch Mom said, “It just hit me that this is the last time we’ll go out to eat with just the two of you”…. Wow. This is starting to seem real. It’s really starting to hit each of us from time to time, usually just out of the blue. It’s so exciting, but also overwhelming. Not the adoption or the travel or the language barrier… but the fact that we’re going to be parents! I hope that the mommy & daddy instincts kick in when we meet LG!

Now that the house is quiet again, the packing has begun. LG’s room is a total disaster, and the packing is far from finished, but we’ve started. We have something going pretty much every day between now and next Monday, plus 5 more days of work.

8 Days!

Zack and Jenn,
I don't think you have to worry about the Mommy and Daddy kicking in. Both of you have had those instincts for a long time. You're already awesome parents. Little Guy is so blessed to have you in his life. Again, I'm speaking in presence tense. I hope next week passes as fast as you want it to.I mean I hope it doesn't seemingly drag by.---Love you all three. Mom

Wow....yall have been busy since we left there today at 3. Yall hadn't even started packing then. We had such a good time this weekend with yall. It was a bit sad for me thinking that yall will be gone for so long and be so far away. But, I know God will be with yall. I'm feeling teary eyed just thinking about yall leaving here as a couple and returning as a family of 3. It's all finally sounding so real. And, to echo what Barbara said, that parent instinct will definitely kick in...yall have what it takes to be fantastic parents. I can't wait to see yall's dreams of becoming parents come true. We look forward to seeing yall come home with that sweet little boy. Just know that while yall are gone to get him, our thoughts and prayers will constantly be with yall and we know God will send yall home with the son He has already chosen for you.

We love yall so much,
Mom and Tommy

It looks like you had TONS of fun!!! Don't worry, the parenting skills will definitely kick in. One quick note - don't feel bad if it feels like you're babysitting for the first few days. After 10 years of it being just Meshack and I, it didn't really hit me that we were the Q-ball's parents until he threw-up on me after we got home! ;)
I hope this week flies by...but of course that you have enough time to get everything done.
I'm so excited for you!!!

What a wonderful way to kick-off your last week before leaving! It sounds like both gatherings were great fun.
Can't wait to follow your journey as head out to Ukraine. I'll be keeping you in my prayers both for safe travel and for a wonderful meeting of your little guy!

What a great weekend you had! It brought tears to my eyes reading about your wonderful family and friends - you are so blessed! Our friends are not as supportive, that's why I really treasure our online friendship!
