A lady in our life group at church suggested we check out Craig’s List. We found a couple that we were interested in. Jennifer’s dad and I actually went and checked one out over in Marietta, but it turned out to be a bust.
The next Sunday we were supposed to drive to Canton to see another one. That afternoon before we left, Jenn’s dad Charles called and said his wife, Lori, had seen one on their bulletin board at church for FREE! They went that afternoon and checked it out for us and told us it was in pretty good shape. We went the following Saturday with my dad and brother and met Charles and Lori at the people’s house to load it up. It was in pretty good shape, but needed a little TLC.
We spent the next 10 days working every afternoon on it and now it looks like brand new. We pressure washed it, stained it, put a roof on it, and anchored it in over 700lbs of concrete. It will officially get broken in at our going away party next Saturday… I’m sure our Little Guy won’t mind his cousins and a few Ukrainian friends trying it out!
Okay, here's the Before...
And here is the After...

Wow, you can honestly say you earned $3000! It looks awesome! And you are right, it's very important to have a playground on the backyard. I don't know any kid who wouldn't want to spend time on it! You did such a good job restoring it, I'm really impressed. What material did you use for the roof? We need to replace roof in our backyard playground, so I'm looking for an advice.
First we covered the roof with deck boards. Then we covered them with green plastic roofing sheets. Zack got them at Home Dep0t - they're usually with the metal roofing sheets.
Wow! So glad you did the Before and after pics! Awesome job!
He's gonna love it!!!
I am a littel jealous I am too heavy to play on it. Of course I have been too heavy to play on a swing set since I was 4.
Who would believe the difference the stain and green roof would make in the swing set!! I thought it was lookin doggone good when I lift there Monday evening, now it looks brand new. You two have great ideas, and know how to make them come together.
Poor Josh, remember how he was always too big for all the kid stuff we'd take him to? Wah, wah.
Is that how you spell that?
Love you all three----Barbard
Love the fort in the middle!! What a lucky kid.

That is awesome! We have been in the market for one and they can be super expensive like you said. It is just wonderful that you found it and made it look so great!! He will love it! I wish we could come next weekend, because I know my little guy would have some fun on there! Unfortunately, we had already scheduled a trip down for this weekend, so two in a row would be hard. I hope you have a great party and a wonderful, magical trip to get your little boy!
Wow that looks great! I'm sure LG will spend a lot of fun time outside playing on it.
Ya'll are so creative and it means more to you when there's a little sweat and lots of love put in to it.
Great job guys!!! You are both already wonderful parents!!
Looks great, you two are great to be able to fix and repair things. Looks like God has alot instore for you. Can't wait to see you two and the NEW swing next week.
